“The Bay” was a different type of vibe. The people were friendly, the environment felt safe, and it just seemed more relaxed there. As I ventured out to do some exploring at Pier 39 (Fisherman’s Wharf) and China Town, I noticed everyone was so happy. I couldn’t figure out why. Not trying to say that everyone in NYC is mean, BUT we are always in a rush and people tend to walk a little bit slower than we want them to.

CultureCon in Brooklyn

This past weekend (Oct. 12) creatives came from all over to attend the 3rd annual CultureCon in Brooklyn. The Creative Collective NYC, a group dedicated to “facilitating brave spaces for multicultural creatives” puts on the jam-packed, day-long festival to inspire emerging creatives as well as provide attendees with practical knowledge they can put to use in their own creative endeavors.

CurlFest in Atlanta 2019

I spent the last weekend of September with the lovely ladies of the Curly Girl Collective . They brought CurlFest to Atlanta, Georgia for the first time. The festival has been held in New York City for the last six years, but it was time for the brand to expand. CurlFest is a celebration of curls, coils, and culture, wrapped up in positive energy and Black girl magic.
