I’ve been to Boston before as a teenager and I thought it would be a good idea to go back and see what it was like as an adult. I decided to switch it up this time on my adventure to Las Vegas. I was tired of casinos, partying, and clubbing. I felt that it was important to support Black owned businesses because we need to support our own. I had been to NOLA before for National Urban League Conference, but the vibe at Essence Fest was something different. It was truly a reunion with people from all walks of life that came together for the one event that can possibly change their lives. I grew up reading Essence and very aware of what the magazine brings to our community.
